In today's American society,campus shooting frequently happens.The right to keep and bear arms has becomed the focus of American society.Various interest groups debate.The root is in the different understanding of the second amendment of the Constitution.This paper analyzes the right from a historical perspective,then form my own independent understanding of the second amendment.The second amendment has its theoretical roots and historical background.The theoretical roots are European cities republicanism,liberalism and republicanism of the England.Britain's military tradition and the unique environment in the colonial history are historical background.The Northen America people developled and perfected the right in the course of absorbing the tradition,overcoming the history of the environment and founding the U.S.A.Only by understanding the historical conditions,we can understand the second amendment of the Constitution.The second amendment has two right:the right to keep and beer arms,the right to overthrow the corrupt government.The body of the right is the universal militia.The right has have had a profound impact on the American history.It Safeguarded the balance of the rights of military, maintained the tradition of republicanism,had a foundation role to the U.S.A and promoted the establishment of federal system.
