Rousseau, together with other thinkers in the period of theEnlightenment, made their own unique contributions to the overthrowingof feudalism. However, there existed a great disagreement betweenRousseau and the Enlightenment lamp, which lay in the personality charmof Rousseau's thought. Cassirer held the idea that Rousseau belonged tothe Enlightenment camp in a splitting way, and that he transferred thecore of the Enlightenment and attacked the premise of the Enlightenmentmovement——science, reason and progress. Rousseau, with the deepmoral mood, criticized "the disassimilation" and the morals degenerateswhich caused by rationality and civilization from the angle of "religionredeeming". It was by reflecting and criticizing the theme of theEnlightenment and by extolling the "natural humanity" and the "naturalstate", and inquiring into the origin of human beings' inequality.Rousseau canonized the "people's sovereignty" moral republic, and triedto restore person's morality in the political stratification. The politicalsociety Rousseau canonized is perfect, while he confuse the morality andthe politics, which created the contradiction between his political theoryand the practice. With same time Hume, Montesquieu, Voltaire compare, Rousseau'snatural law thought has distinct characteristic. His nature law thought hasthe rich color of the morality and the religion, in the time of rationalityprevailing, Rousseau's thought filled in the "moral vacuum" of people'sspiritual life in the certain degree. The failure in practice urged us toponder over how to locate the value rationality in the political system; The criticism to civilization and rationality was also a warning to modernpeople, and it gave useful enlightenment about how to deal with scientific spirit and humanism spirit; At the same time, Rousseau's natural lawthought also attract Marxist's widespread research and discussion, whichopened the broad space to propel humanity's philosophy thought.
