Public Diplomacy: Theory, Practice And Learn

Since world war â…¡, with the development of civil society and information technology, public has been playing an increasingly important role in diplomacy. As a result of diplomacy revolution, public diplomacy becomes a primary part of the diplomacy strategy in many countries. This paper mainly deals with the theory of public diplomacy, the practice of public diplomacy by western countries, and what China can learn from other countries to skillfully conduct its public diplomacy. This paper consists of three parts.As to the theory of public diplomacy, this paper discusses the conception of public diplomacy and what the main three types of international theories say about public diplomacy. In the perspective of international theory, being interpreted from different point of view of the main three types of international theories, public diplomacy reflects a trend in the development of international theories, that is, different kinds of international theories are increasingly getting into one.The second part of this paper tells about how western countries (mainly America) conduct public diplomacy. The main western countries have three commons as to public diplomacy: public diplomacy section well organized enough public diplomacy funds available, definite aims of public diplomacy.The third part is about Chinese public diplomacy. In modern Chinese history, there were many successful examples of public diplomacy. Now, with the peaceful rise of China, public diplomacy is in urgent need. So in this part the author provides some suggestions about how to conduct Chinese public diplomacy effectively, which is the purpose of this paper.
