The city-group area appears as an economic area densely covered by many cities, large or small, in the course of urbanization. Usually one or several largest moderncities with overwhelming economical influence on other smaller cities have becomethe core of the area. At the same time, there is smart transport, communication andother public establishment in this area. The city-group areas are the economic andpopulation centers in highly urbanized developed countries. The city-group areashave been supporting much of the economical development all over the world. China urbanization is speeding. In the highly- urbanized east, the city-group areahas formed, while in the west and the middle, the city-group areas are coming intobeing. The formation and development of the city-group area will become a tide ofurbanization. The successful development in the city-group area attaches much to oureconomic development and urbanization. But there are many problems in thedevelopment of the city-group area, for example, district protection, the same industrystructure in different city, the divided market and badly-flowed population andeconomic factors, and so on. Because of so many problems in the city-group area, it isimportant to study the economical principle to analyze the reasons for these problemsand find out solutions. Taking these into consideration, in this paper I studies someeconomic correlative theories such as the theory of Location of Industry, the theoryof Growth Poles and the theory of Regional Production Complex. In the paper I alsostudy development history of the city-group area. Then, based on the above, I analyzethe reason of the problems and give some countermeasures to settle these problems. There are five parts in the paper. Part one is about the sense of the studying ofthe city-group areas; in part two the definition of the city-group area and the commoncourse of its formation are introduced; it is the task for part three to generalize thecommon law about the city-group area by analyzing correlated theory; part four isabout how is the city-group area in china currently and what are the problems in thedevelopment of the city-group area in china; at last the reason of the problems and themeasures to settling the problems are given in part five.
