Private Science And Technology Enterprise Crisis Management Theory And Empirical Research

Chinese private and high-tech enterprises are facing more and more challenges brought about by the market economy. At present, many Chinese companies which grew up under the long-term planned economy lack competitiveness because their management is not aware of the existence of enterprise crisis, or does not understand the features and rules of enterprise crisis, or just pays little attention to it. Therefore, the awareness of managerial crisis and implementation of crisis management are new topics for Chinese private and high-tech enterprises.Crisis management is a new field in business administration. The research on it is still at the development stage both in China and abroad. Consequently, there are many different opinions on the basic concepts, fundamental methods and techniques. Some statements about certain concepts are even contradictory, which leads to problems to the implementation of crisis management for private and high-tech companies to some extend.This paper describes the common features and fundamental causes of the enterprise crisis initially on the basis of differentiating the concepts of general crisis and enterprise crisis, followed by a review of current status of researches on crisis management in China and abroad. For the purpose of giving companies' management theoretical evidence, this paper suggests a proper definition for crisis management.Having clearly discussed the basic concepts, this paper gives an in-depth analysis of the internal and external environments, as well as the general signs of crisis faced by private and high-tech enterprises. The basic contents and process of implementing crisis management are also dealt with.The analytical methods used in this paper are based on the general practices of companies, that is, a real diagnosis approach.Finally, the strategies of implementing crisis management in private and high-tech enterprises in China are proposed.
