This thesis is a review of Sino-Israeli diplomatic relations, and explores the historical causes of the twists and turns in the normalizing process of bilateral relations. China and Israel could not establish diplomatic relations because there were not many common interests between them.To ensure its existence and maintain its national security is Israel's primary concern, so international recognition is of great importance for Israel. By reasons of the Arab-Israeli conflicts, many countries would not damage their relations with Arab world by communicating with Israel. While Israel realized that the United States could supply the finances and technologies to guarantee its military superiority to the Arabs. To ally with the great powers is a cornerstone in Israel's foreign policy. The People's Republic of China had struggled with America and tried to establish a United Front in the Third World to ease the great powers' pressures on China. China supported the "national liberation movement" in the Middle East and encouraged the Arabs to take an "armed struggle". Israel was considered as a lackey of America. After China's open policy, China has attached great importance on its national interests in foreign policy to enhance its comprehensive national power. With the mitigation of international environment, the obstacles between China and Israel were dying out. But because of the protests from the Arab and Muslim countries, China did not speed up its pace to establish relations with Israel until the cold war ended. China and Israel eventually established diplomatic relations in 1992, which was a result of China's diplomatic efforts in Middle East.
