| As the domestic market is being opened up gradually after China' s access into WTO, the domestic market will surely become one part of the global market and the enterprises will be faced with an environment where survival becomes more complicated than ever before with many enterprises chasing after a few chances of success. With limited available human resources, material resources and financial resources, an enterprise has to distribute and use appropriately these resources for the building of key projects and create an advantage with which competition can be made with the competitors in the market at a certain level. Only by doing so can it survive in such competition and keep developing. As PET is thought to have a large market share, many of the enterprises in China plot to build such projects, thus leading to a craze of PET. This paper under such circumstances discusses the opportunity study for this proposed PET project from the prospective of industrial environment, market entry and through an analysis of the conditions within the enterprise. The paper highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the enterprise and clarifies meanwhile the opportunities and threats the enterprise is facing while assessing if PET project matches with the market access and the existing resources. The paper also evaluates whether this project really benefits the enterprise and helps to sharpen the enterprise core competitiveness, providing hence basis for decision making by the enterprise for the avoidance of mistakes in this process.
