On The Ethics Of Business Decisions

The decision making, of enterprise is the nucleus of business management, concerning the rise and fall, profit or loss of enterprises. But for a long time, the decision making of enterprise is regarded as a pure economic behavior and has little relationship with moral, which results in radical limitations in traditional decision making of enterprise. The limitations are: firstly, when a decision is made, only economic benefit of enterprise is considered and the external or the whole interest-holders' benefit is never considered; secondly, when a decision is made, actual economic performance is often regarded as the only criterion for judging the quality of the decision; thirdly, when an analysis of decision is made, decision makers often only pay attention to the analysis of economy, technology and law while ignore the necessary analysis of morality.In a matter of fact, when a decision is made, decision makers often meet the conflict of value judgment and fall into a dilemma of ethical choices, which is conflicts and choices between personal will and mass will, between short-term benefit and long-term benefit and between wrong means and allowable means. The dissertation believes that personal will should submit to mass will, short-term benefit should submit to long-term benefit and wrong means should give place to allowable means as well.The radical way to solve the problem of the ethical dilemma occurring in the decision making of enterprise is that enterprises should assume ethical responsibility which is divided into three levels: firstly, the decision makers of enterprise should be concerned about their customers and offer them safe and perfect commodities and services; secondly, the decision-makers of enterprises should consider the effect on social and natural environment, and try their best to reduce the resources damage; thirdly, the decision makers of enterprises should care for the employees of enterprises and create a humane working condition for them. In order to carry out the ethical responsibilities of the decision making of enterprise, the decision makers' moral attainment should be improved; the law enforcement of ethical decision should be strengthened and the system ofmoral indicator of check and appraisement should be established. In order to carry out the moral decision, decision makers of enterprises should constitute the value of judgment, make sure who are stakeholders and search out the point of the integration of morality and benefit.
