| Modernization is a great revolution in the history of human civilization. Realizing China's modernization has been one of the important objectives for the Communist Party of China (the CPC). In the process of revolution and socialist construction of the CPC, the Party has been making a constant deep understanding of the issues as to what the modernization is and how to achieve it, and thereupon the CPC finally established its own theory on modernization. It is thus of great significance in theory and practice to make a detailed and comprehensive examination and analysis of the formation and evolution of the modernization theory created by the CPC and to sum up some lessons and experiences in this painstaking process as well, which is the main purpose for this research paper. The paper begins with clarifying the definition on modernization. It explicitly points that modernization is a concept with comprehensive and integral connotation, and meanwhile, it's a historical dynamic process. Observing from the CPC's ideological bases, overall objectives and strategies and so on, the author safely concludes that the CPC has created an overall, systematic and scientific theory on modernization which is based on a scientific conception. The reason why the CPC is able to advance and establish a systematic and scientific modernization theory with Chinese style in the process of revolution and construction consists in some certain in-depth causes and conditions in ideology, history as well as external and internal elementswhich determine a certainty that the CPC is capable of putting forward its own theory on modernization. Nevertheless, it underwent a long history to advance and improve the theory. It witnessed a course from the early conception of modernization to a blueprint for modernization in the new-democratic period, then to a classical modernization theory which isfeatured with the four modernizations as its core, and finally to a ripe and well-considered modernization theory with Chinese characteristics which was initiated by the CPC.Through a detailed investigation of how the CPC formulated its own modernization theory from its history, the author summarizes six basic experiences. These experiences dawn upon us that whether modernization theory is correct or not directly affects China's modernization drive. Therefore, in the process of exploring the theory, we must abide by the ideological guidelines to emancipate our minds and seek truth from facts, adhere to the socialist nature and orientation, stay the course of modernization with Chinese style, maintain our modernization in step with the whole world civilization at large, and uphold leadership by the CPC. |
