This thesis is devoted to the study of Habermas' "The end of sovereignty" . This thesis falls into three chapters.Chapter one seeks to focus on the theoretical basis of theory on "The end qf sovereignty "advanced by Habermas. The theoretical basis are summarized as follows: nation states have been in doubt, policy of welfare state cannot work smoothly as before, sovereignty of nation states are facing unprecedented crisis. All these factors have resulted in the negative fallout to nation states in the process of globalization also put the world political structure into drastic transformation. As the dominant form of political association, nation states won't keep acting as a historic role. Accordingly, the sovereignty of nation states will necessarily be in ruins and consequently die out.Chapter two is dedicated to the analysis of the ideally social form Habermas designed when nation states disappeared. Considering the negative fallout to nation-states brought by globalization, Habermas theoretically clarifies several viewson influence of globalization. Then he put forward a ideally social form-" WorldCivil Society" and interprets it theoretically.Chapter three reviews Habermas' theory on "The end of sovereignty " in four aspects: the limit of "Communicative Theory" on analyzing international problems, world citizen's unpractical behaviors cannot restrict capitalistic arbitrary actions, discussing just from point of view of institution cannot sufficiently prove national power end necessarily, inanition of interpretation on interference of human rights. In conclusion, Habermas' theory on "The end of sovereignty" is in a embarrassed plight and not interpretative when facing reality. However, the theory on "The end of sovereignty" is provided with some rationality, which reflects a philosopher's particular thinking in the era of Globalization.
