Company compensation presents real and continuing problems which have attracted the focus of economists and managers for more than a century. As developing from classical economics to modern economics, economics has done a systematic study in the pay theory of which the basic assumption is that the paid is "rational-economic man". Various viewpoints stemming it have been applied to management and produced extensive influence on managerial behavior. At the same time, from the management standpoint, the pay system is not implemented so rationally as the reality individual isn't exactly the "rational-economic man" and management environment is also complex. To meet the management practice requirement, company compensation management continues developing according to management development. Although the theories can be found in many management theories, they determine the core thoughts and styles' transformation of company compensation and various management methods also reflect the soul of compensation theories. With the era going from Industrial Revolutionary to today's network economy, compensation theory directing the compensation practice in company have been going on innovating.Main contents and viewpoints of the thesisThe main content of the thesis is arguing the principles and framework of compensation design of knowledge employee through analyzing knowledge employee's motivation and compensation system. Company and employees are not a natural profit community but an organization and different employees have different expectations of company. Therefore, compensation is a strong link connecting the profit relationship between corporation and employees. Especially to the knowledge employee which is much more independent, company starts to reckon more and more on the innovation ability and devotion that knowledge employees have made on the job. The main contents of the thesis is expending based on the job requirement and compensation satisfaction of knowledge employee and, finally, the primary conclusions of knowledge employee's compensation design come into being.The viewpoints of the thesis are that compensation management is the primary inducement, attracting and stimulating knowledge employee to be more devotional and loyal, and is the effective support to other policies and measures of human resource management. Compensation meanings to knowledge employee can't be measured only from economic aspect, but also need to be considered from sociological,psychological and political view. The compensation the individual receives from his employment serves as a symbol of status both within organizations and in society and compensation also is taken as a psychological contract between employee and corporation. The psychological contract attains reality through the eyes of beholder. Compensation is offered to individuals to motivate certain types of behavior. But which rewards motivate what kinds of behavior and how they operate are functions of perceptions and attitudes.Innovations of the thesisThe thesis' writing is a process to summarize and promote what the author has learned during his Master's degree studying period, reflecting the directions and thoughts in three years learning. Straightly speaking, the standpoints of the thesis are mainly deriving from original views and are partially extended and the value of the thesis lies in that one standpoint not others is selected to explain some problem. Consequently, the innovations in the thesis lie in the selection of the data,theories and studying method.Subject selection Subject selection is the most valuable part of the thesis.
