| Economic globalization is an unavoidable trend of current economic development in the world. Within the evolution of economic globalization, the globalization of finance takes such a crucial position to be the core of the whole process. Among the rich content of financial globalization, cross-border operation of bank composes an important aspect.Being a full member of WTO and with the more and more integration of China's economy into the world, China has surmounted the threat of economic marginalization and created a more spacious environment for the development of domestic banks of commerce. An effective way of China's banking sector to face up to the challenge of globalization, which is of great significant to the growth of the sector, is to fully utilize the rights endowed by WTO membership, to forcefully develop transnational banking operation and to actively participate competition of international financial market. Based on that observation, I narrow down my thesis under the title of Transnational Operation of Chinese Banks of Commerce and try to make some experiment exploration under the supervision of Professor Ye Caiwen. The thesis encloses four chapters:Chapter One, Outline of Transnational Operation of Chinese Banks of Commerce, is the theory basis to initiate the study. After introducing some basic definitions like transnational operation, cross-border banks and banking internationalization, the Chapter starts by studying the theoretic system of transnationals, followed by some traditional theories of the development of transnational banks, such as ownership , which form the internal cause of transnational banking. The Chapter also makeselaboration on the external causes of transnational banking and analysis of different ways of organizing the operation.Chapter Two, Summary of the History and Experience of Transnational Operation of Banks of Commerce, reviews the development record, presents the pattern of such operation in the current world and analyses future direction and trend. Based on the study, the Chapter summarizes some valuable experiences conducive to the development of transnational banking. Chapter Three, Initial Evaluation of the Current Transnational Operation of Chinese Banks of Commerce, elaborates the necessity and realistic meaning of transnational operation of China's banks with the understanding of the development trend after entering WTO, evaluates the overall level of transnational banking in China after studying the current reality, and expatiate on problems and restrictions existing in the current transnational operation of China's banks of commerce following the exploration of both internal and external situation of the banks. Chapter Four explores the transnational strategies of China's bank of commerce, including strategic objectives and detailed strategies to be chosen in the process, such as main strategy, regional strategy, business expansion strategy and market competition strategy. Besides, the Chapter also produces measures to further expand transnational banking in conclusion of the study on external environment, banks' internals and bank- enterprise co-development. At the final part, the Chapter, standing on a macro point, discusses the measures for the government to supervise transnational banking operation. |
