Deng Xiaoping Tourism Economic Thought

With the development of social productive forces and the intensification of social division, tourist industry, as a relative-independent economic industry, breaks up by and by from commercial department and becomes "leading industry" with guiding function in the third industries. In the world of today, tourist industry is not only a "no-smoke industry", which accords with the grobal trend of economy development today and "green industry", but also a "morning-sun industry", which is developing well.Comrade Dong Xiaoping is not only a general designer of Chinese reform and opening, but also an initiator and founder of Chinese tourist industry. At the beginning of reform and opening, comrade Dong Xiaoping issued a serial of talks on developing tourist industry, which reflected his thought on tourist economy. These talks point out the direction and pour new driving force for the rising of Chinese tourist industry from weak and backward basis. We think that Dong Xiaoping's thought on tourist industry is an important part of Dong Xiaoping's thought.The article consists of five parts. The first part expounds tourist economy's intrinsic implication as a new type of economy, and interprets briefly tourist economy's function in the development of national economy and the present situation of Chinese tourist economy. The second part sums up and sorts out the main ideas of Dong Xiaoping's though on tourist economy, and analyses further its theoretical value and real significance. The third part expounds that Dong Xiaoping's thought on tourist economy inherits and develops Marxism's thought on tourism, and is an important part of Dong Xiaoping's thought. The fourth part interprets the enlightenment of Dong Xiaoping's thought on tourist economy for us, and emphasizes that Dong Xiaoping's thought on tourist economy is our guiding pvinciple of developing tourism; developing tourism must have the spirit of discarding old ideas and bringing forth new ones. The fifth part tries to explore the striding development of YunNan tourism under the guidance of Dong Xiaoping's thought on tourist economy and YunNan's reality.Chinese tourist industry has finished the transition from "the type of cause and reception" to "the type of economy and profit", and gained quick development and great achievement; and realized historic stride from big tourism resources country to big Asian tourism country. However, we should see that we are far from strong world tourism countries in many aspects. In order to make Chinese tourism more and more prosperous. We are confronted with all kinds of difficulties and challenges. The purpose of learning Dong Xiaoping's thought on tourist economy lies in applying skillfully its marrow to practice by understanding correctly and deeply the theory, and exploring new path by meeting new situation. As a result, Chinese tourism will achieve further development and play a more important role in the development of national economy and social progress.
