| Reform in electricity industry targeting on complete breaking of industry monopoly has just begun. As a subordinate player in the industry, the electrical machinery enterprise can no longer rely on the industry itself to survive. They got to be faced with great challenges.Born with serious defect and under the umbrella of electricity industry featuring planned economy for years, there have existed many problems severely affecting the competitive capabilities of the enterprise. Late in reform, these enterprises have lost the primary opportunities for development and their future survival has been cast with shadow.With standardized analysis and sample description, this article focuses on how electrical machinery enterprises, under the special condition, adapt themselves to the trend of reform and seek to shoulder off their difficulties through their connected efforts. According to its content, the article can be divided into five parts.The first chapter gives attention to the present situation of the electricity industry in China, analyzing in detail the problems such as low efficiency and lack of coordination within the industry. It is clearly indicated in this chapter that with the continuous development of market economy, it is imperative to implement reform focusing on decentralization of monopoly and introduction of competition mechanism. Meanwhile, this chapter also gives brier introduction to the basic ideas of reform.In the second Chapter, Chengdu Power Machinery Works(CPMW), which is representative of situation, is chosen as the research subject. Through analysis of a series of statistics, this chapter is trying to have the readers realize that almost all the electrical enterprises are trapped in the difficult situation. These enterprises have been experiencing backward operation mechanism, low-level management, poor asset quality andcontinuous loss for years. Apart from poor administration and management, single asset ownership structure and rigid top-bottom management are the fundamental cause to these problems. Lacking competitive edge, these enterprises have to heavily rely on others, but the authorities upon them fail to provide them with sufficient attention and support. Faced with imminent reform in the electricity industry, a lot of enterprises feel great pressure. For some of them, survival has become a matter need to be addressed urgently.After detailed analysis of the problems currently existing in the electrical machinery enterprises and exploration of the in-depth cause, in the third Chapter, the author raises three enterprises as examples. Due to different development strategies, there appear sharp differences between Fujian Longjin Environmental Protection Co.,Ltd. and Lanzhou Power Equipment Manufacture and Repairing Factory. Due to advanced capital structure, China International Marine Containers Co.,Ltd.(CIMC) has got great opportunities for development. Through these samples, it is clearly pointed out that recapitalization in the electrical machinery enterprises has far lagged behind. Compared with intensification of reform in the local enterprises, reform in the electrical machinery enterprises comes more imperitive. Under the serious situation, if they fail to embrace the opportunities and implement asset reorganization with diversification of asset ownership as the core, they will unavoidably come to the dead end.The fourth and fifth Chapters elaborate on the conclusion of the third Chapter. According to the actual situation in CPMW, the author puts forward two reorganization plans focusing on the diversification of asset ownership structure. With explanation to the details of plan implementation, advantages of the plans, possible difficulties and necessary support, the theme that reform is the fundamental way out for the electrical machinery enterprises under the new situation is reinforced in the chapter.
