The 13-year Sino-US negotiation on China's GATT/WTO membership is not only a crucial step in the process of China's accession to GATT/WTO, but an important aspect of Sino-US relationship these years. This thesis tries to observe and study Sino-US negotiation on China's GATT/WTO from the perspective of negotiation.The preface cites some relevant research achievements on China's accession to GATT/WTO at home and abroad and indicates the academic sense and new ideas in the analysis of Sino-US negotiation on China's GATT/WTO membership from the perspective of negotiation. It also explains the writing thinking of the thesis and points out the issues resolved in it.The main body of the thesis is divided into 5 major parts.The first part is about the theoretical analysis of negotiation, in which we sort out the negotiation theory on the meaning, evolving process, different types and their characteristics, influencing factors and balances required of negotiation. The emphasis is the influencing factors of negotiation.The second part reviews the historical origins of the relationship between China and the GATT, and examines the reason why Sino-US negotiation on China's GATT/WTO membership is so important and difficult.The third part briefs on us the process of Sino-US negotiation on China's GATT/WTO membership.The fourth part is the key part of the thesis. It specifically analyses and fully proves how the factors of economic interest, cooperation relationship, domestic and international politics and cultures affect the process and result of the negotiation.The final part is the concluding remarks, which mainly sums up some regularities and illustrates some question for more study or discussion.
