| J46straa As a effective method of performance appraisal, simulation test used to be widely applied in the recruitment of army officer in German, British, American, Australia and Canada etc. Later, it was introduced in non-military field and has been playing a very important role in talents-assessment. However, due to it抯 difficulty to design and high cost, the popularization of simulation test is been delayed. In China, related study is just start from the very beginning. Now only some big companies have introduced sets of simulation test. In October 2000, the Organic Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided applying the simulation test in the selecting of government officer, and our institute took this project. Since then, we had been involved in the research, aiming at finding a accessible way to get rid of the disadvantage of the original form of In-Basket test. Based on the views above, this study focuses on improving the In-Basket Simulation Test, with the objective of finding a way to simplify the test. In the study, two simple forms of In-Basket test were designed, together with the original test being applied to the group of respondents in the experiment. The results suggest that the performance of the group of participants in three tests is highly correlated and in some of the items, the simple forms can more strictly distinguish the participants of have and have-not managerial experience than the original form does.
