Japan is a traditional powerful country in East Asia. He tried to change the picture in Northeast Asia and got ride of the limits of the nature many times during the past time. All of these efforts started from the hostility to North Korea. This is decided by its geopolitical and strategic factors ,the political geography of the international society, and its intrernal political situations . So it's obvisly very important to pay attention to the strategy to North Korea in Japan. After the defeat, Japan pursues the pacifism policies which focus more on the economy than arms built. However, nationalism reared its head again with Japan's economy at its zenith, which leads to a new expansion after the war , and pursuit to be a great power both politically and militarily. After the Cold War, the changed world situation ,Japan's economic decline, the national power imbalance restricted its further development and influence in the world, which forces the government to give it efforts toward the building of national powers. Nowadays, against the background of political awakening of Japan and the attempt to expand its influence , the Korean peninsula is playing a relatively new and special role in Japan foreign policy.
