Fast-paced development of network technology serves as the direct driving force behind internet-mediated political participation, which refers to the action of ordinary citizens, with the aid of internet and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, to express their benefits claims, participate in decision making and ultimately exert influence on politics. Such participation has remedied some incomplete aspects in China's political system and contributed a lot to the political progress. However, there have existed some negative aspects concerning internet-mediated political participation which need to be desired further, therefore, research in this respect should deserve more attention and is still of great significance.Chapter one in this thesis involves connotations, features and ways of political participation and internet-mediated political participation as well as the relations between the two. Chapter two concerns the impact of internet-mediated political participate on democratic politics, to be specific, on representative democracy and autonomous democracy. Chapter three deals with the status quo of China's internet-mediated political participation including its background, the main body, pros and cons. Chapter four is designed to expound the viable ways to participate in politics via internet from the perspective of system, technological platform and quality enhancement of cyber citizens.The above-mentioned aspects are focal points of the thesis. The thesis is designed to contribute due share to sound development of China's internet-mediated political participation, and play a positive role in the furtherance of its effect.
