This paper mainly studies on Vietnam-India relations in Ho Chi Minh era (1945-1969), divided into three stages, namely, the early postwar period (1945-1954), after the Geneva Conference (1954-1960),1960 years (1960-1969). vietnam and india are in sympathy with each other and mutual support in spite of the struggle against imperialism and colonialism from vietnam independence to the Geneva Conference, but subject to the differences in ideology between the two countries and the impact of the Cold War, Vietnam-India relations is relatively cool.Indo-China issue has become the focus of attention of various parties after the Korean War in 1953,India timely adjusted to its policy on Vietnam and began an active mediation. The Geneva Conference was a turning point. After the Geneva Conference, Vietnam-India relations continued to develop on the basis of the five principles of peaceful coexistence and the peace of Indo-China.Especially Nehru's visit to Vietnam in 1954 and Ho Chi Minh's visit to India in 1958, Vietnam-India relations reached a climax. Although India is still treated equally to two regimes in Vietnam during this period, the relationship between India and North Vietnam was the more closely than South Vietnam.At the sixties, the United States strongly supported the government of South Vietnam, involved in the vietnam war, the Vietnam-India relations began to alienate. After 1965, Vietnam and India relations began warming up,because they were gradually move closer to the Soviet Union.This paper argues that Vietnam's national interest is mainly manifested for national independence and national unity in Ho Chi Minh era, Ho Chi Minh took a friendly policy to India and seek Indian's support and sympathy actively,the relationship between Vietnam and India during this period reflected the Ho Chi Minh "peace, unity and joint" diplomatic policy, Vietnam had won widespread international sympathy. However, due to various factors, the Vietnam-India relations are not smooth, it has experienced several ups and downs, showed a "W" type of development path.
