It has been more than a half century since bel canto was introduced to China from Europe. In these years, bel canto has produced a significant effect on Chinese vocal music art and vocal music education. After the initial stage from early 1920s to later 1940s and the developing stage from 1950s to middle 1960s, bel canto was fully developed in 1970s. Conservatories of music and departments of music in teachers'colleges are successively established, which promoted development of Chinese musical education cause. After Reform and Opening-up in 1980s, with continuous strengthening of external exchanges in each filed, a great many foreign artists, signers and vocal music music educators successively came to China and injected new energy into Chinese flourishing musical culture. Meanwhile, Chinese singers and students successively left China for European countries to learn musical culture and art. Some of them are active in international opera stages and the rest become the backbone of Chinese vocal music music education cause after returning to China, such as Professional Zhou Ling.Zhou Ling is the first vocal music professional of Vocal music Department of Xi'an Conservatory of Music, a winner of"Intellectual Star"Knight Medal of Italy personally signed by Italian President, a jury of Italian"Zandonai"International Vocal music Competition, a jury of Chinese Competition Area of Germany Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition, a jury for major vocal music competitions of Shaanxi Province, a jury for humanistic awards of scientific and research projects in institutions of higher learning of Shaanxi Province, an expert for review of western projects of oversea studies financed by the government. Graduated from Vocal music music Department of Xi'an Conservatory of Music in 1980s, she continued her study in CONSERVATORIO Cesare Pollini di PADOVA and learnt vocal music art from Marcebra Castellani, a famous vocal music educator, and obtained the highest degree (Doctor) of Italian Vocal music Artists awarded by Ministry of Education of Italy.After returning to China, Professor Zhou is always committed to vocal music education and strictly follows rigorous, standard and scientific characteristics of Italian vocal music teaching. She has accumulated abundant teaching experience, but also greatly improved teaching level of Vocal music Department in terms of skill training, song performance and stage practice, etc. In these years, she has trained a great many vocal music talents.Based on experience obtained from many years'learning from Professor Zhou Ling and in combination of experience of overseas study, the author systematically clarifies teaching methods of Professor Zhou Ling from such aspects as teaching characteristics, song selection, composition treatment, scientific research practice. This article is a summarization of the author's learning as well as the author's research result. This article has reference significance for Xi'an Conservatory of Music to research into theories of vocal music teaching methodology.
