Li Mixun, a famous liegeman of the Song Dynasty, lived in the period, during which the transition from the Northern Song Dynasty into the Southern Song Dynasty was taking place, and was born in a family with political background and literature tradition. As an official, Li was deeply concerned about the country, honestly spoke for the people, and frankly advised the emperor. On the one hand, he had carried out many wise policies, and on the other, he bravely fought in battlefields and won a reputation among the enemies. Being firm and straightforward, Li has a lofty and pure spirit, and dare to stand against the influential officials, instead of flattering them. Li was not only respected for his political stands, but also for his literature achievements: He had left behind hundreds of poems, ci-poetries and articles. This paper took Li's ci-poetries as the study object, and strived to display the charm of his works as well as his contributions to the development of Song-ci, especially Nandu Song-ci.This paper is mainly made up of three parts: the introduction, the text and the conclusion. In the introduction, the writing motivation of this paper was described. Firstly, the research value of Li's literature works was illustrated. Then the current research on this subject was summarized. At the same time, the achievements in this area were confirmed, and the weakness of current researches was pointed out. Further, the writing purpose of this paper was described. The text is the main part of this paper, composed of three chapters. In chapter one, an all-round study on Li's personality was made. First, Li's family background was examined. Second, his attitudes toward being an official and being a human being was studied, and his sound morality of frankness and uprightness, and his outstanding political capacity were praised. Third, Li's relations with other patriotic scholars were examined, as one's aspiration and hobbies can be reflected in his social relations. Li had made friends with Li Gang, Zhang Yuangan, Xiang Ziyan and Ye Mengde and many other famous patriots. They comforted each other in hard times, learned from each other in terms of literature works, and exchanged thoughts and attitudes. Finally, the characteristics of Li's ci-poetries and literature achievements were summarized. In chapter two, the thought content of Li's ci-poetries was studied. Li based most of his works on reality and obtained materials from a wide range. In Li's works, through which he expressed his thoughts, emotions, aesthetic orientation, and attitudes toward life, we can find the common characteristics of Nandu Song-ci everywhere, which is characterized by the sadness of men with high aspirations for the fall of their country, feelings about one's life of ups and downs in official circles, thoughts rooted deeply in Confucianism and influenced by Buddhism and Taoism, struggles between participating the social activities and withdrawing from it, and hermits'lives, which were isolated from human society. In chapter three, Li's artistic achievements were discussed. In the Southern Song Dynasty, ci-poetry had become completely mature. Li inherited Su Shi's bold and unconstrained style, injecting wild imaginations into his works. Therefore, he has been considered a intermediate link between Su Shi and Xin Qiji. On the other hand, his short-tune ci-poetries are delicate and graceful. In this sort of works, Li expressed his emotions by describing natural views with natural and elegant words, the tunes are often sad and delicate. On the issue of writing technique, Li was good at using specific views and citing classics to accomplish his works, greatly developing the technique to write ci-poetry in the way of writing poem and article. This skill both use appropriate things to carry thoughts, emotions and aspirations, and quote classical words to achieve a simple style, rich implications and wide imaginations. Moreover, quoting classics can also increase the inside information of words. The conclusion probed into the causes of Li's literature style. Firstly, the inside factors such as knowledge, emotion, thought and life experiences inevitably played crucial roles in forming Li's style. Secondly, the influences of regional culture and the literature environment of the Song Dynasty also helped to form his style. Finally, in the evolution of the bold and uncontained style, Li Mixun inherited fine tradition and usher in the future mission, contributing a lot to the development of Song-ci.
