Anton Pavlovich Chekhov(1860—1904) was a realistic writer who was so sensitive to real life. He was deeply concerned about ordinary life of common people, and discovered hiding tragedy of daily life that seemed usual. He not only concerned about tension of which be caused by poverty, and suffered asphyxia that be resulted mediocre surroundings, but also penetrated into the inner life & the deepness of soul. He explored the predicament that people were faced with in those years, and their hardship ,their struggle, their hope & their disappointment. The most value of literature is determined by showing concern about people, so it is an eternal theme that of dicussing displaying of the hardship and the unfortunate.The article mainly analyzes the sorrowful women——one of the figures that Chokhov portrayed. The paper is divided into two parts. Chapter One researches meaning of the miserable women. Chapter Two discusses Chokhov's special writing techniques. Lower level women lived in the bottom of the society forever and incurred the most hardship. Chokhov tried his best to emerge those country women, the maids, the women cooks, the female singers, the prostitutes…and digged into them out of the truth of life in order to care about them. Chokhov also concerned knowledgeable women. Some suppressed by the gray, oppressive and boring life. Some earnestly hoped fine life, but found no way to realize it , and in the last they are still in the hopeless situation. Chapter Two mainly analyzes psychological description , the visual angle of narrative and metaphor. The Section One expounds how Chokhov to displayed the change of figure`s psychology and the use of conscious flow. Section Two discusses the use of external angle of view. Section Three analyzes metaphor in Chokhov`s short stories and discusses the image of the moon & grassland.The viewpoints and writing techniques of Chokhov`s works play an important role in the later literature history in the world.
