Late 20th century. As we see America spear-heading the direction and progress of the Western ARTS scene, New York has replaced Paris as the ARTS Capital of the West. This is, following the divergence of contemporary and traditional ARTS in the early 1990's, another major revolution in this field. On one side, it eliminates the boundary between ARTS and livelihood and broadens the scope of creation. On the other side, it brings about an ARTS style that is Americanized, in ideology, esthetical sense, presentation, composition etc., collectively as a new break through. Such transformation stems from the close relation it has to the changes of the then society. For that reason, I shall expound on the main causes of such a shift, namely from the political, economical and cultural angles, in a bid to recognize and appreciate the ideology and significance of the current ARTS era. |
