Cai Shiyuan, famous educator and scholar of Zhu Zi school, follow in his whole life the dictum of Chen and Zhu philosophy, emphasizing the practice and upgrading morality, with the teaching experience in Ao Feng Academy and in palace as the private tutor for the prince which helping also expending his influences. His main literary thoughts can be found in the selecting collections of The Gu Wen Ya Zheng and The Er-Xi-Tang Collection.From the characteristics of selecting standard, genre, commentary, classification and so on, we could find in content that he emphasizes philosophical connotation and practice, and stylistically upon the logician and the proper use of words. In his abundant articles about preface, book, record, biography in the The Er-Xi-Tang Collection on elaboration of philosophical connotation, we could find his creating thought sticking to the philosophical dictum and his strict obedience to the philosophy, elaborate argumentation, detail classification, sincerity in creating style, thus, influencing the direction of the development of the prose in early Qing Dynasty.
