| Zhang Haidi,apart from her identity of a spiritual idol in 1980s, is actually an outstanding contemporary writer. But her real identity was shadowed under the radiant shine of a spiritual idol. In reality, since she has chosen to be a writer as her profession, she devoted to us many pieces of literature works with her miracle experiences. Professor Wu Yiqin said, Literature is the efficient weapon Zhang Haidi used to resist her fate as a symbol and to open her mind to the existence. Literature is her transcendence over the existential reality and also over the history and fate and it is in this transcendence Zhang Haidi completed her self-delivery. I try to analyze Zhang Haidi's identity as a writer and her literal creation from her personal experiences. The main thread going through my thesis is the heroic complex of Zhang Haidi.In the first chapter, I elaborate the typical objects of heroic ideal in her works according to her disability experiences. Heroism is the spiritual value of mankind and it belongs to the ideology. In the literature works they are realized through creation of heroic figures and description of nature and fate of the characters to express the author's heroic ideal. Zhang Haidi's unique disability experiences nurtured her heroism complex which reflects to the heroic figures in her works. Her heroic figures conduct nobly, scorn material benefits and hold fast to the spiritual loftiness, so they are lone trudges in the vanity fair.In the second chapter I analyze the causes of formation of Zhang Haidi's heroism. To her the fate is too cruel to left her only a sound brain and fortunately she has her own free thoughts and optimistic attitude to life. Under the death terror caused by her severe disability, she is broadminded and forms her unique concept of life, that is, Death is beautiful."Since I choose to live I must learn to devote myself to the people and society."In her happy childhood her parents groomed her good character of optimism and self-confidence. To sensitive Zhang Haidi, diseases are one way of tasting life bitterness and making special spiritual travel, which brings not only pain, but also aspiration and enlightenment and help her see the nature of life through phenomenon and create attractive works. Zhang Haidi has developed her heroism values due to these elements.In the third chapter I ponder over the contemporary meaning of Zhang Haidi's heroism. In the modern society of commercialism, individualism and nihilism literature is marginalized and the traditional heroes vanished, but it doesn't mean there are no heroes. Actually there rises a group of new heroes in the peaceful eras. And it is more important that heroism complex, as a tributary in the human historical river and a line in the literature creation, is not cut. Zhang Haidi make literature creation on her firm basis of her heroic believing. Her works enhance the mainstream ideology and reform the contemporary believes. Since her works are more of biographical, her heroism is also developing with the times, which are reflected in the appearances of personal heroism and social heroism alternatively. |
