East Asia In The Ancient Literature Of The Secretary Of Water Gods

Kojiki is the earliest works in Japan, which is compiled by Taianwanlv, appointed by Juan-Ming emperor, according to teiki and kyuuji transmitted orally by a toneri named Baitianali, and it has been finished in the year of 712. Owing to the fact that the most parts of Kojiki are composed of mythologies and legends, many people prefer to consider it as a book recording Japanese ancient mythologies and legends, rather than a history.Just like Kojiki, Shan-hai ching from China and Heritage of the Three Kingdoms from Korean peninsula are both representative and ancient works on mythologies. All of the three works originated from developed regions in terms of farming culture, and consequently, these books are full of mythologies about Arethusa.So far, many scholars have shown great interest in research on mythology in academic study. However, as far as the mythology about Arethusa is concerned, there is not any independent subject on it, but merely as a branch of research on mythology. Although some scholars have conducted comparatively independent research on mythology about Arethusa, it is always the case that they are restricted on the research of a particular country, lacking a wholly research on mythology about Arethusa from more countries, or a particular region, in light of comparative literature. Based on exploration of various research and studies on this point, this paper takes the ancient myth in classical literature of Japan as the main body,and analyzes mythologies about Arethusa presenting in ancient books and records,comparing the myth of Japan's most ancient book "Kojiki" with the collection of ancient Chinese and surrounding region's mythology " Shan-hai ching " and the collection of the Myth of the Korean Peninsula"Three Kingdoms" .First, this paper selects all the information about Arethusa and mythologies about Arethusa, and makes a list. Next, I will classify and compare the information about Arethusa and mythologies of Arethusa over these three regions, in order to make a breakthrough on this subject.
