From the perspective of the word origin, WEN-TI means not only Whole, Visualization, but also Paragon, due to its connections with the concept of LI. The concept of WEN-TI formally formed as it was quoted by ancient Chinese scholars in expositions. However, this concept has not been defined. Since WEI and JIN dynasties, due to the different social and ideological background, there are various of interpretations of the concept of WEN-TI, and the content of WEN-TI, that is, Whole, Visualization and Paragon, has been changing all the time. In the fast-changing 20th century, scientific rationality has become the mainstream ideology in China. As a result, the previous content has been replaced with concepts in Western Literary theory, such as Style, Genre, etc. Up until nowadays, owing to lack of the foundation of new theories, the elaborations of WEN-TI are only made from the perspectives of Genre, Type of writing and Style.As a matter of fact, problems of losing of values that caused by over-rationality can be found in all academic fields.
