This dissertation studies a kind of fiction which called Reinvented Fiction. In the course of the study, I have used the method of Mutual reflection of literature and Sociology. The basic idea of my dissertation is to situate the Reinvented Fiction in the Specific historical context of Late Qin ear, and fully exploit their cultural values and artistic value. Through the clothing, food, education, which as the'XIN'in Reinvented Fiction, to reveal the ethos of modern times and Western Civilization's influence on the Chinese cultural life of modern city.Besides the introduction and conclusion, my dissertation is divided into five chapters. In the introduction, I defined the concept of Reinvented Fiction and provide a literature review and the justification of the research, and elaborate on the underlying theoretical assumptions and methodology. The first chapter examines and reconstructs the conditions of writing and Publishing of Reinvented Fiction, Investigating the publish situations of Reinvented Fiction in the Modern Press, Researching the booklet version of the Reinvented Fiction. The second chapter discusses the clothing description in the Reinvented Fiction, highlighting the Westernization of modern Chinese dress, and a brief analysis the reason of Westernization of modern Chinese dress, such as historical, social, and psychological reasons of the nation. The third chapter mainly analyzed the Food Description in the Reinvented Fiction, which reflected the popularity of Western in modern time . Meanwhile food Description takes important role in the novel, and this chapter also analyzed the causes of the popularity of western. Chapter IV introduces the new schools in the Reinvented Fiction, which mainly discusses the increasing commercialization of new schools, and the Cultural conflict between Western's Ideas of"freedom and equality"and the Confucian's conception of "respecting teachers and education" . Chapter V elaborate the ideological trends'influence on Reinvented Fiction's'XIN'in Modern Society, and briefly analyzed means of artistic expression of Reinvented Fiction and its impact in Later literary creation. Concluding section, based on the main text to make a comprehensive evaluation of the Reinvented Fiction, both in historical value and practical significance.
