Qin And Han Fu Letter System Research

China was united again as a feudal country in Qin-Han period, the dynasty hold a vast territory and a large population. So a huge administrative and martial system is in the demand. How people in this system to recognize each other is very important, especially when the country is in a warfare. Kings and government officers need material identifications called "FuXin" to give an order to the army or relevant units, and people also need "FuXin" to pass a fort or to differentiate dumb millions from enemy in border areas. The identification system was thus unified nationwide with sound management in Qin-Han Period. There were so many kinds of material identifications such as "Fu", "Jie", "Zhuan", "Qi", "Ru", "Guosuo" . They are different to each other in material ,shape and use method.Recent years archaeological discovery apply a complement to the study of "FuXin". But there still are many problems have not been solved, for instance, interpreting different definitions from one historical data, or just talking about several kind of "FuXin". So there is a lack of full description of the whole system. This thesis, by quoting a large amount of historian materials including bamboos lips and wooden tablets, will put forward the author's view on these differences and it is hope that the study into this subject could be furthered.
