Thucydides is one of the greatest of the ancient Greek historians, whose book History of the Peloponnesian War is also one of the major woks that impact the concept of human being. The book has been concerned by historians, politicians, philosophers and others. The book is not only a political and military historical book, but also a book describing and analyzing the character of figures and polis. In this book, Thucydides focus on characters, which are closely linked with the war. At the same time, the two sides will also be a war of the city-states Athens and Sparta to compare the character, thereby exposing the "human" is a deep-seated problems, it is the desire of human nature that leds to a variety of the outbreak of war.The artical is based on the book itself, and use the psychological knowledge to interpret it. The artical is mainly carried out on three chapters: Chapter I, History of the Peloponnesian War in the psychological analysis of implicit factors, human nature, motivation and behavioral characters, city-states Athens and Sparta character; the second chapter focuses on why Thucydides use this manner, and why at that time he reached the level of such thinking, there are four main reasons: apart from his own experience, there was the tragedy of culture, the Hippocratic medicine and philosophy of Socrates deeply affected the way of Thucydides'thinking and writing; Lastly, the third chapter is to explore such a historian writing on the impact of the future historians.
