Literary And Media Significance For Literary Activities

The communication of literature needs media, and literature is the content and information according to the communication media, which plays an important role in literary activity. As a carrier, the media's status and characteristics in different periods of history are so significant that influence the literature fundamentally and profoundly. For example, it can decide the existing basic reified form of literature, influence the production and development of literature and bring a profound change of the literary function and concept. The literary communication is not the negligible element but an essential factor in literary activity. From this point of view, we can detect the inherent movement of the literary activity, and re-explain the literary discipline and artistic rules. Therefore this paper is to discuss the impact and significance of communication media on literary activity according to their various features in different stages of Chinese history.Firstly, we should understand the relationship between the literary carrier and literary communication media. Why have we chosen these material carriers as our important communication media in Chinese history? The ancient communication media have experienced many forms such as tortoise shell, animal bone, bronze, stone, bamboo, silk and paper, and from the engraving printing to the type printing, from the rapid development of the electronic media to the globalization of the web media, one media's developing history just means the changing history of the literature. Secondly, we will discuss the relationship between the communication media and the literary activities in different spread stages. Oral language media, character media, printing media, electronic media and web media, correspond with the primitive literature, the literature of the Pre-Qin Period to Tang Dynasty, the literature of the Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, the literature of the end of Qing Dynasty to the period of 1990s, and the literature since 1990s. The system of literary activity consists of the world, the author, the writing and the reader, and they will bring enormous change owing to the effect of communication media. For instance, different media reflect different ideology, bring on different writing forms and influence different reader's acceptance. At last, from the angle of space-time deflection and our diverse apperception, this paper concludes that four breakthrough of media advance the literary activity forward, and represent different literary patterns. Generally speaking, changes in medias can promote the development of literature,we admit that the impact of the literary communication media and the mode of spread on literary activity and social development remains to be special and significant, in order to find out the practical substantial reason for the more understanding of literary patterns and aesthetic pursuit in certain period.
