The meaning of body language of Folk dance survive in its context.And the dance text in particular context reflect and embody its culture memory. "Caigu(drum dance)", as a particular body language, reflects Shidong Miao people's parochial knowledge system which includes cosmology, world value, social institution, livelihood and etc. In this thesis, according to the observation of Caigu in "Sis-day", the author is trying to put "Caigu" in a broader context to interprate the deep meaning of this folk dance. The author described the chapter content, movement, rhythm, dress and adornment of Caigu,and then depicted Caigu, as one kind of art, is the symbol and represntation of local ecological environment, belief system and ritual activities. And in the feminilism perspective,the meaning of Caigu activity in the marriage and relationship of Miao was addressed.The method of the study is combined with anthropology, aesthetics, folklore, dance logy's theory. One one hand, the author stressed the integrity description and the contextual explaination of Caigu, and analysed the character of movement, chapter content and the movement type; On the other hand, the author deciphered the social meaning deeply hided in the movement, and interpreted the symbolic meaning of Cigu activity which embodies local marriage and relationship value.This paper includes preface and three chapters, The preface is about the intension and present situation as well as study method; Chapter one is mainly analyze the context of the "Caigu"performance—"Sis--day"'s traditional meaning and its form and breading way; Chapter two is focus on the dance form's drum rhythm, paragraph, movement and dress ornaments, and try to explain the dance social meaning; Chapter three comes to the part of interpretation on the symbolic behavior of Miao women in this activity.The author respects the local knowledge and culture logic in the field work ,and stand on the dance side to interpret the culture meaning of "Caigu" in the way of "deep description " with the combine sight of "etic" and "emic" to analyze the activity's function and intension.
