Artistic creation as expression of human spirituality have inevitable connections with the nature in which we human beings all dwell. Highly challenged, both in its expressional means and styles, and the forms of its body, contemporary fine art has been gradually losing its balance, tangibly or intangibly, in the process of "scientification" of artistic spiritual products. The more advanced and developed the nature-controlling technology, the more lost the human's spirituality (or the humanistic significance) become. Based on manual labor and handwork, the primitive arts developed their own techniques and methodologies, which, however, were gradually replaced by modern technologies and rational designs. In return, human's spirituality is suppressed and sometimes ignored. Away from nature, man's quality and value are lost. This article reviews the development of contemporary arts , and studies the human-nature relationship and the natural quality of art. It brings forth the concern of a lack of human spirituality in contemporary arts. By analyzing the impact of manual labor and handwork on artistic styles and forms, this article attempts to reconcile the human-nature harmony and emphasizes the significance of human spirituality in contemporary arts.
