The Power Of Art Can Not Be Ignored

In the late 20th century,Feminist Art emerged in the art stage of the world.In 1971,Linda·Nochlin published her Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists,which made Feminist Art highlight in the stage and remained one of the most important works in the art history.Within thescope of the feminist paintings,Frida is the most frequently mentioned name.Frida valued highly the artistic self-consciousness with her strong political position and principles.She desired equality in the arts,and at the same time maintained emotional differences in gender from which the feminism sprouted and developed in her works.In the 1960s and 1970s,with the Feminism in the West was at the rising tide,people around the world paid close attention to the female artists.Up to today,Frida's works still benefit researchers on the Feminist Art.Following Frida's steps,more and more women begin to pay attention to women's self-consciousness and the females' condition in the society and devoted to the feminist movement in the mid-and late 20th century.They published many art books about feminism,organized big exhibitions under feminist subject,and displayed various forms of art works.Now Feminist Art puts forward challenges and criticism to the existing form of society and value orientation of art both theoretically and ideologically.With the research of Frida's Feminist Art as the base,the thesis studies mainly the emergence,existing presence and future development of space and direction.And the whole thesis is divided into five parts.The first part deals with the unique political and cultural views shown in Frida's painting which reveal the original feelings and manifestation of Feminist Art. The second part focuses on the social development of Feminist Art in the following two or three decades in different fields of the western countries.Nochlin's article is taken as example to illustrate the artistic achievement of feminists which stand as guide for the research of traditional feminism study on the topic of gender differences.The third part is about the second stage of Feminism art history led by Gezelda·Pollock-the Modern Feminist Art stage which put forward questions and requirements to the art history.The fourth part is around the final stage of the feminism art history study which characterizes with gender study and is named as post-modern feminism.In this period,Feminist critics employed rational thinking and scientific methods to analyze the differences and inequality because of gender.The fifth part is the conclusion and summaries the historical mission of the Feminism art as to attack the masculine authority and defend the women's art.And questions are also raised.What are the reasons for the dying down of feminism? How long can Feminist Art go? Without "-ism",can we expect the true equality of women's art and social society? As the conclusion and reflection part,the final part is the key part of the thesis and serves as the reason for another explanation of feminism upon the time when feminism is forgotten by people.Feminist thought is not only manifested in art history and art criticism,it is also manifested in the art works.This thesis also enumerates many art works of the feminists to show the feminism art performance.For example,the autobiographical painting by Frida·Carlo,the decorating art work Diner Party by Judy·Chicago,Feminist art historians and feminist artists fight together for the equal treatment of the feminism art.And they strive to build up the feminism art as a banner in the arts world.In western countries,especially in America,feminism art is developing fast and leads the feminist artists around the world to break through the traditions and stride forward.Feminism is a global phenomenon and it brings power for Chinese feminist art.For the sake of the national complex and the self-consciousness of my living environment,I incline to compare the Chinese feminism art and the western feminism art.Feminist artists are unique in that they are independent in though and often have perspectives on politics.They are radical,humorous,intelligent,courageous,pluralistic and creative in arts,not rigidly adhere to the existing schools.They are now on the mission to hold up the feminism art in the history,and will continue this task.It is precisely because of the determined efforts and hard toil of the pioneer feminists,feminism art emerged and their works attract concerns from everywhere.Although they received both positive and negative comments, the feminist artists face them strongly and make soul-searching and try to transcend.Feminist art is stretching out with power and is becoming the indispensable part in the art world.
