With the development of English, how to teach English well becomes the key issue among the English educators and scholars in China. At present, Chinese English—teaching models pay much attention to mechanical memorizing and teacher—oriented education, and pay little attention to the close relationships between English and culture. So the students' social-cultural and communication abilities are very weak. Therefore it can't satisfy the aim of quality—oriented education. So the author creates the research—oriented English teaching model in college. This paper includes three parts: firstly, I sum up the same theories both in China and foreign countries, and then set up the research—oriented English teaching model in college. Secondly, I carefully analyze the characters of this model, the sequence of operation the teaching strategy, and implement the model in the freshmen's class of Qingdao College. Finally, through one semester research and practice, I analyze the results and prove that the research—oriented English teaching model in college is practical and feasible.
