Du Yaquan studied the Chinese traditional culture early , he had a cool head and characteristic of rationalism.After the Sino-Japanese War, he felt the old knowledge of Chinese be not able to save the national crisis, so quickly changed the way of studying. Gave up the Imperial examination, began to study the works of mathematics ,chemistry, physics, and medical science. Extensive, contacts with Western scientific and cultural knowledge. Founder of Magazine, Editing and publishing a large number of science textbooks and monographs, Strive to serve the people real learning. The First World War led him to propose the model of cultures of Chinese and Western now were not civilization, It should encouraged diversification and combine the strengths of the east and the west .He side against the representatives of the May 4th Movement and be counted as unreconstructed. His opinions were not same as Liang Qichao and Liang Shuming entirely. Such as ,he called for reform, praised the new literature and advocated the use of Vernacular.As a representative scholar of the enlightenment period ,Du Yaquan in society is also influential now.
