CPC Central Committee in the paper, the resolution of CPC Central Committee on building a harmonious socialist society's some major issues, which is adopted by the sixth of the 16th National Party Congress, proposed that building a socialist harmonious culture is the important content of building a harmonious socialist society. Then CPC Central Committee also stressed in the 17th National Party Congress's report that promoting vigorous development and prosperity of socialist culture, which further stated the importance of building a socialist harmonious culture. This is the new major arrangements of our party for the new requiments of cultural construction that our country's economic and social development have made and the new expectations of the people of cultural work after the improvement of the material life.Ideological and political work has always been the lifeline of our party's economic work and all other work, which is an important strategic position. From our party's history of the development process, the ideological and political education has played an enormous role in the Chinese revolution and the socialist modernization process. And its position and function still can not be ignored in the current process of constructing a socialist harmonious culture. CPC Central Committee emphasized in the 17th National Party Congress's report that we must strengthen and improve our ideological and political work and cultivate a culture of harmony, from which we can see that the ideological and political education still has very important value. It is a new topic that studying on the relationship between the construction of a socialist harmonious culture and the ideological and political education.This paper mainly discusses under the background of building a socialist harmonious society, how to play its role for ideological and political education in order to form a virtuous and harmonious interaction between itself and the harmonious culture, and promote the construction and development of socialist harmonious culture.This paper mainly includes three parts: Introduction,Body and Conclusion. The introduction introduces domestic academia on the topic of building a socialist harmonious culture since the Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixteenth CPC Central Committee and the research significance of the ideological and political education combined with the construction of a socialist harmonious culture, current research dynamic on this, as well as the main content of this paper. The conclusion stresses that the construction of the socialist harmonious culture is of great significance and the ideological and political education which plays an important role during this process. It also points out that constructing the socialist harmonious culture is a dynamic process. Therefore, the research on the innovation of the ideological and political education is also a process of continuous exploration. The body includes three parts detailed as follows:The first part starts with the process of advancing the harmonious culture, focusing on an analysis of connotation and essence of the harmonious culture and related concepts, and points out that the disharmonious performances of cultural development of our country at this stage. The problems mainly include: Firstly, the coexistence and confrontation between ancient and modern culture; secondly, the game and the infiltration of Chinese and Western culture; thirdly, the conflict of the theme and diversity, diversity values confuse; fourthly, the discord of cultural development and cultural needs; etc. In conclusion, we need to strengthen our country's socialist harmonious cultural construction at this stage, which is the important elements of building a socialist harmonious society and is of great theoretical and practical significance.The second part focuses on the the important role of ideological and political education in the process of building a socialist harmonious culture. Ideological and political education is an essential driving force of the socialist harmonious cultural construction. The main problems: First, the thought and moral education of China's ancient traditional society has always focused on building a harmonious culture and heritage; second, as the theoretical basis of ideological and political education, the Marxist theory has been developing along the direction of building a harmonious culture; third, contemporary Chinese Communist Party's ideological and political education has always been implementing the idea of a harmonious cultural construction.The third part is the key point of this paper, focusing on how to realize its functions for the ideological and political education in promoting the building of a socialist harmonious culture. To achieve this function, we must first realize the harmonious development of its own. We must act in accordance with the requirements of the Scientific Outlook on Development so that the various elements and aspects of the ideological and political education can be mutual coordination and promotion and common development, and on this basis, better coordinate the relationship with economic construction, political construction, cultural construction, social construction in line with the requirements of building a socialist harmonious society; give full play to the ideological and political education's function of ideology, and strive to build a socialist core value system; give full play to the ideological and political education's function of socialization, and promoting the development of the cultural programs and the cultural industry; put the ideological and political education into daily life, leading the construction of mass culture; constantly enhance the ideological and political education's cultural integration, and realize the coordinated development of culture of different colors; make an effort to strengthen ideological and political education's cultural penetration, and promote the development of healthy sub-culture; give full play to the ideological and political education of innovative features to ensure a harmonious culture of sustainable development.
