In 1978,the holding of the Third Plenary Session of 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party represents the entering of reforming and openning period.The 30th anniversary of the Committee is celebrated in 2008.Although these 30 years is just a short flash in Chinese thousands of years of splendid civilization,it is a period full of all kinds of tremendous change in politics,enconomy and education.After the development,many fields made a great progress.In this overall background of the society and education,the university education has found its right track after correcting,ajusting and promoting.These is a visible success in university edcation in China.The university music education in China has made a more obvious progress in these 30 years.It experiences four stages:the ajusting stage(1979-1984);the developing stage(1985-1991);the promoting stage(1992-1999);the new century stage(2000-2008).Each stage shares certain same characters besides the different orders.The achievement that university music education gained and its own rapid development have much to do with the the concern of the national government.After an analysis on Chinese university music education of the recent 30 years,we found that there are some shortcomings besides the achivement.By comparing with music edcation in foreign universities and analyzing Chinese university music education,we can conclude some factors that why university music education lag behind.This is significant to every university music educationist.Moreover,there are all kinds of challenges and chances that university music education faced in this new century,at this new beginning.We should seize these good opportunities,and accept these challenges,make continuous progress,and try to make great breakthroughs in the next 30 years.
