There are many outstanding composers and piano works in Spain though there is not a long history of piano music in Spain. The piano suite Iberia, composed by Spanish composer Albéniz in the 19th century, is the most famous work among his works. The Spanish national characteristics are shown in the suite. In the dissertation, the piano suite Iberia was studied. The suite was comprehensively introduced and analyzed based on the characteristics of Spanish music. In addition the techniques needed to perform the four songs in Iberia, Evocación, El Albaicín, EI Puerto and Triana, which I have been performed, were generalizedThere are five chapters in the dissertation.In chapter l characteristics of the Spanish music were generalized according to the history of the Spanish music and European National Music of the 19th century.In chapter 2, there are a biography of Albéniz and an introduction of his works.The creative background of Iberia's and form structure were introduced in chapter 3.Chapter 4 is the emphasis of the dissertation. Four songs, Evocación, El Albaicín, EI Puerto and Triana, which is the most representative songs of Spanish folk music and piano skills, were chosen and comprehensively interpreted.There are many national elements in Iberia duo to Albéniz applied some representative national elements of Spanish culture to the suite. In chapter 5, the national music elements used in Iberia were generalized. It is helpful to clearly understand the suite and Albéniz's music.
