Lacan The Main Theoretical Dissemination And Research In China

Lacan's whole theory basically relates to each specific aspect of the subject and subjectivity of human being. The theoretical contents about explaining how subject form and develop is the foundation of Lacan's structuralism psychoanalysis, which includes Mirror stage, Oedipus stage, and the three different sections of subject.Since the beginning of 1990s, Lacan's subject theory is becoming a more and more popular topic of academic research in China. This paper aimed to analyze the reasons of this Lacanian research trend, as well as review the achievements. There're two primary reasons. The external one is due to Lacan's tremendous contribution to psychoanalysis, which made him the most famous psychoanalytic theorist after Freud. Lacan also made direct influences on many crucial postmodernism theorists, which inevitably attracted Chinese scholar's attention. The internal reason emerged from the rapid change of society in China and continuous impact in academe initiated by modern western culture and philosophy. Researchers desire for answers to fresh problems and phenomena, so they actively explore western intellectual resources. The accepting of Lacan is a typical research attempt.For more comprehensive understanding, this paper take three steps to go into Lacan's influence in China. The first step is to present overall introduce and analysis of Lacan's subject theory written by Chinese scholars. It consists of three parts, which respectively are how Chinese scholar introduced, interpreted and commented on subject theory; how they saw the relationship between Lacan theory and postmodernism; and how they applied Lacan's theory to literature criticism. The second step is to dig out multi-motivations for Chinese scholars to get close to the Lacan's subject theory, and conclude the fresh perspectives Lacan brought to China academe. The issues of Lacan research in China combined with the Chinese social background and literature theory construction. The goal of this part is trying to find out the key value that Lacan's theory providing for Chinese scholars. The third step is meditation and looking forward. One thing is to analyze the weaknesses of Lacan research in China during the past seventeen years. Another is foreseeing the potential value in Lacan's subject theory we can continue to explore, especially the concepts and logic patterns which Chinese literature theory can absorb from.
