After the American Civil War, the slavery in America, lasted more than 200 years, had been destroyed and as a result, about 4 million Black Americans had gained liberation. At the end of 19 century, that is ,from the Civil War to the beginning of 20 century, Black Americans gained numerous achievements in music, dance, art, literature, drama, history and culture, science and technology and many other fields as well. It deeply stirred the whole society in America at that time. This period of time can be regarded as a transitional period of the Black.With great pride, they improved their self-confidence by such great achievements which had been a strong blow to those white people who had a prejudice against them. At the same time, the Black acquired coagulation during the course in which they improved the whole level of their national culture, developed their intelligent sources, and promoted a new awakening of the Black. With their superior talent, they showed their wisdom and talent to the world, which had promoted a black nationalist movement to be carried out. The Renaissance has established a basis for more large-scaled black civil rights movement of twenty centuries.The main body of the essay is composed of three parts:I. The historical background of the "Renaissance"Late in the nineteenth century to the early 20th century, Black Americans strove for the national independence. During this period, Black Americans, although just gained freedom from slavery, faced with increasing current racial discrimination. At the critical moment, millions of Black Americans united and rolled counter-current. We can see the background of Black Americans'achievements from the views of politics, economics, culture and internal motivation.II. Various achievements gained by Black Americans in the "Renaissance"In this part, the essay sets forth all the glorious achievements of black people in all aspects such as music, dance, art, literature, drama, history and culture, science and technology and so on. It is the core of the paper.III. Comments on the Black RenaissanceIn the short decades after the Civil War, the status of the Black Americans had changed largely. During a hard time, the Black gained fruitful results and outstanding achievements in all kinds of fields, which had a profound historical background. Of course, for its part, there were still some limitations.
