On The Imagery Of The Song Rain

The rain image is one of the prototype images, which had certain cultural implication after it appeared. This chapter first simply differentiates the rain and the concept of rain imagery, and then discusses the rain imagery's development and the general situation of Song Ci's rain imagery. Through the analysis of the rain images' prototype, we can see that the ancestors' process of praying for rain has endowed the rain with a certain emotional significance. "Raining on time" is the model of joyful feeling of rain and "excessive rain" is inconvenient for them so that there is another "anxious feeling of rain", in those processes, the image of the "making love" appears and developed it from the model of sex into a exceedingly sentimental love model. The three models can be found in all kinds of emotional style aftertime and enrich their content. Until the period of Song Ci, "rain" is everywhere. Section II of this chapter, the situation of rain imagery in the Song Ci will be show in in graph and the tendency feeling of it can be seen easily. "Anxious feeling of rain" emotional type accounted for 62%, joyful feeling of rain 26%t and others 12%. It is safe to say that the rain imagery of Song Ci is a world full of sadness. Then the paper analyzes the performance of the rain image formation of the reasons for the emotional tendency.The type of rain imagery in Song Ci will be discussed in Chapter II, which divided into four sections.
