At the beginning of 1980's , Mr.LüShuxiang presented the problem about the forms of theverbs in Bei("被")-sentences."The verbs are restricted in the minority disyllable, and auxiliaryor the temporal words and expressions must be presented in front of"Bei", Lüpointed out. Sincethen, a lot of studies about the verb forms in Bei-sentences have been carrying on. Based on theformer scholars'studies, this thesis will try to find out the conditions under which simple formverbs (also called'bare-form verb') can enter Bei-sentences .Moreover ,we will analyzes theother influencing factors by comparing the different styles. This thesis consists of six chapters, Chapter I is an introduction and retrospect, Chapter VIis a summary, Chapters II to V are main body of the thesis.Chapter II describes the verbs entering Bei-sentences from the multi-angles (amount, structure, semantic characteristics and compensate components). Among all of the disyllablesverbs we collect, 36.2% can enter Bei-sentence in simple form.Chapter III studies the structure and the semantic characteristics of the verbs inBei-sentences. The monosyllable verbs are very difficult to enter Bei-sentences in simple form, while disyllable compound verbs enter Bei-sentences in simple form easily, and the precedenceranking is: coordinative type> complementary type> modification type> verb-object type. In theaspect of the semantic characteristics, there is not significant difference between the verbs in thesimple forms and the verbs in complex forms. Therefore, the structure and the semanticcharacteristics of the verbs are not the main factors that determine the verbs enteringBei-sentences in the simple form.Chapter IV analyzes Bei-sentences on the compensate components (CC), which must bepresented as verbs enter the Bei-sentences in the simple form. CC are divided into directcompensate components (DCC) and indirect compensate components (ICC). DCC can be thewords (Adverbs, Auxiliaries, Adjectives and Nouns), it can also be noun phrases. ICC aredivided into compensation-admitting and compensation-associating. That CC are presented ornot directly determines whether a verb can enter Bei-sentences in the simple form.Chapter V analyzes the other influencing factors by comparing the different styles. To thedifferent styles, we find out that there are different distribution of Bei-sentences with a verb in the simple form .That is to say, there is an inevitable link between the styles and the distributionsof Bei-sentences with a verb in the simple form .The proportion of Bei-sentences with a verb inthe simple form in the technical style and the political comment style is higher than that in theliterary style and the archives style. Because the former styles pay more attention to the logic andaccuracy of language, there will be a large number of modifiers or associating words. Most ofmodifiers are DCC (Adverbs, Auxiliaries, Adjectives and Nouns), and a large number ofassociating words are ICC (Compensation-associating), therefore more easily satisfies thecondition and context of Bei-sentences with a verb in the simple formIn brief, by analyzing a mass of the corpus, based on rigorous statistical analysis, theconditions for verbs entering Bei-sentences in the simple form are described objectively andaccurately in this thesis. Moreover, based on this description, we also try to discuss, analyze andexplain the factors which determining whether a verb can enter the Bei-sentences in the simpleform. Our research will be a beneficial attempt for the future studies.
