From Women Painting To Feminist Art

Based on the study of the development of Feminist Movement, the thesis describes the process of evolution from female painting to the Feminist Art, with emphasis on analyzing the characteristics of the Feminist art.Although women created the so called female paintings, their genre and artistic language were almost the same with men' s painting. Therefore, the traditional female painting hardly had any impact on the art history. In the contrast, the Feminist art, with the background of the Women' Right Movement, has distinct female characteristics, and plays an important role in the modern and contemporary history of art. Feminist artists try to focus their art on the physical and psychological status of women, and try to raise their social and historical position.
