Tin Tin Ode

The literary of the Northern Song Dynasty initial period is full of flowery languages as same as the literary of the Five Dynasties. In order to abolish this kind of literary style, the writers, Liu Kai, Wang Yucheng and Tian Xi, for example, initiated to restore the Guwen movement. The Song Dynasty literature thus started to appear the new features.In these writers, except Wang Yucheng, Liu Kai, and Mu Xiu, Tian Xi is often forgotten by the scholars who study the Song literature.Tian Xi was born in 940 and died in 1004.Because of his achievements in politics, although he had obtained the prominent achievement in the literature, but had not brought to the scholars enough attention.Tian Xi's literature theories were the foundation of his literature creations. He paid equal attention to "Wen" and "Dao", he studied comprehensively. Compared with Liu Kai and Wang Yucheng's theories, his theories had maintained the poetry independence. For the writers who lived in the earlier Northern Song, this was easier to accept. He liked to deliver his real thought in his works.Based on thus theories, Tian Xi's Cifu had obtained the extremely prominent result. His Lvfu was regarded as the model of the Fu in the Song Dynasty by Li Diaoyuan. Besides this, he also wrote some nature and romantic works. This style works had embodied the characters of Wenfu, and had pointed out the way forward.Tian Xi had made the prominent contribution to the literatures of the Northern Song not only on the literatures theories, but also on the practice.This thesis is trying to clear Tian Xi's affects and the place in the literature of Song Dynasty by means of the research on his literature theories and the work of Cifu.
