| Jin and Yuan dynasty is the first golden age for the development of traditional Chinese dramas, it is just at this time that the first existing drama selection Thirty dramas in Yuan Dynasty appeared. However it was not until the late Ming dynasty that the drama selections came to prosperity,The Third Edition of dramas by Zou Shijin is just the fruit of this era. It is a selection of dramas co-edited by Zou Shijin (a man who was born in Ming dynasty and refused official positions in Qing dynasty) and his son in the 18th year of ShunZhi Years(the year of 1661). The reason why the author named it"the third edition"is to cherish the memory of the first two editions, what's more, he had the intention of reviving the Ming dynasty, therefore a total of 34 works by 19 writers from the late Ming dynasty to the early Qing dynasty are collected. Among them, Many are classics, and the spiritual world of the intellectuals could be touched from the structures and figure-building aspects, thus uncovering the influence on their their psychological process by social changes. In addition, The Third Edition of dramas by Zou Shijin offered some cases which are helpful to research the music forms and styles such as norms of works, the distinction between dramas and legends. From the prefaces and postscript we can see the selected rules and the drama values, thus the influence on drama creation by literary values and aesthetic orientation can be also seen. The research on The Third Edition of dramas is of great significance to expand the ranges of drama research and enriching the content of drama research history. |
