Using cross- language lexical decision task, the masked semantic and translation priming experiment have been used to investigate the influences of the proficiency of the second Language(L2)on the semantic and lexical representation of the bilingualism. In order to test the influences of the stimulus onset asynchronies(SOA)on semantic priming,we have designed two diffirent parts in the experiment. In the first part, the stimulus onset asynchronies was short, while in the second part, the stimulus onset asynchronies was long. There were two types of cross- language lexical decision task:(1)the target were English words while the priming were Chinese words;(2) the target were Chinese words while the priming were English words. The results showed that:(1)the priming effect of the less proficient bilingualism is asymmetry. There is robust masked L1-L2 translation priming but not in the L2-L1 direction;(2)the priming effect of the common bilingualism whose English have passed CET-6 is asymmetry too.The priming effect occurred in both L1-L2 and L2-L1 direction, but the priming effect is asymmetry;(3)the priming effect of the higher proficient bilingualism is symmetrical. The priming effect occurred in both L1-L2 and L2-L1 direction and the amount of the priming effect is asymmetry. The map of lexical-semantic representation of bilingualism maybe a processing of construction that changed by the level of proficiency of L2.Finaly,we found the SOA's main effect on the primng effect, this can be explained that SOA has some influence on semantic priming.
