Modern Chinese Side, The Word Semantic Study

Modern Chinese position word and location word is one of the major features of the Chinese grammer. Part of speech and taxeme has long been concerned by Chinese linguistics field .There is still much lack of research on semantic features.This thesis is based on the theories of semantics sand metalanguage,and references research on cognitive linguistics. Firstly, it redefines the naming and characterization of position word and location word, refering to < the contemporary Chinese dictionary >, < dictionary of Chinese semantic classification >, , list the subject of semantic analysis, which about 176 position word and 150 location word. choose 47 position words and 91 location words as the subject of semantic analysis. Then Based on previous studies, this thesis try to Semantic Classification of position word and location word.The thesis study from two angles, one is the syntagmatic relation between position word and location word and nouns and prepositions, the other is extraction of semantic features. Firstly, through methods of corpus search and introspection analyzed collocation of 18 typical position words and 13 typical location words, Summarized a collocation table. In semantic field, according to dictionary interpretation, use componential analysis extract semantic features, summarize marking group of semantic features and model of semantic combination.Based on previous studies, this thesis try to use new theory and method redefine the naming and characterization of position word and location word. It takes position word and location word as one syntactic—semantic mark of Chinese category of space—time, analysis and describes the semantic system, construct an analysis model. The research promotes study on position word and location word from word to sentence and semantic, may provide some help to grammer and semantic study.
