Ode To Li Shan "dictionary" Research

Li Shan frequently quoted the "Orign of Chinese Chracters" ("ShuoWen JieZi" )to annoted "Zhao Ming Wen Xuan" and his works is an important one in this research area. But the "Shuowen" Li Shan quoted are frequently different with our "Shuowen" this day. We found all "Shuowen" which Li Shan quoted in his "Connotation about Wen Xuan" and specifically analyzed each kind of "Shuowen" metrails that Li Shan quoted . This differences, we thought, is not only "Shuowen" lost the words and expressions in its spread peried but Li intentionally changes "Shuowen" to adapt "Wen Xuan",which enable his annotation both to have evidence in aclassics and to annotate the article precisely. In this way, he was very successful as a scholar.But when the ancient scholar corrected "Shuowen" they just emphasized the former one-sidedly, which caused them frequently to make mistakes. The "Shuowen"Li quoted is the important evidence to correct "Shuowen" version this day and we may see many faults in todays "Shuowen" from it. But LiShan had his own principles in quoting "Shuowen",did not understand this principles, we would make mistakes in correcting ancient's book.We take Duan Yucai as the example, slightly analyze to this kind of situation.
