In recent years, our society had pay special attention on the music education and the improvement of the humanity ability of contemporary college students. Particularly most music teachers have agreed that the music and science have a close relationship. The research of the public music elective course of university, has become a great important task of the Ministry of National Education as well as colleges and universities at all levels of public art departments. From the beginning of the 1980s,the music appreciation courses have been widely opened in universities everywhere. But because of starting late, it is now still in the reform, exploratory stage. In the new curriculum reform, the education sector had set a new curriculum standards of primary and secondary school music education by enacting the aesthetic of music as the core, adhere to the people-centered concept. But so far, China has not yet enacting the music curriculum standards according to the level of college students. This situation led to a certain extent, the teaching of college music appreciation is not well planned. When choosing the teaching content, this situation leads to the randomness and had brought much difficulties to the work of authorized the teaching material. And the appropriate choice of teaching content directly related to the overall situation of Training Colleges and Universities and the success or failure of teaching. Therefore, the improvement of the contents of College Teaching Music Appreciation undoubtedly has a very important significance.The beforetime research of the teaching content of college music appreciation were all basically adopted the method of speculative theory. Music education as a category of educational activities, has its own characteristics and rules. The main purpose of the music education research is to explore, conclude and summarize the general principles of music education and the behavior, and to identify their universal significance and value of specific groups. To accomplish this, only relying on philosophical thought and theoretical research is not enough. Accordingly, my study will attempt to use education, science and psychological science research methods to study the field of music education. It will collect data on the basis of practice, and use the SPSS statistical software to analyze the relativity and otherness between those data .When choosing the investigation targets, considering the regional imbalance development of college music education in china, as well as to ensure the value of the investigation, we chose Beijing University, Qinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and other five colleges and universities as the inquisitional object. Trying to investigate this five universities which providing better music education in order to find the existing problems of teaching content, to discover the key factor to improve the level of the course content , and to promote the music appreciation teaching of university in our country.This article is composed of four parts: Introduction part: Mainly elaborated the origin of this research, the present situation of this research and the practice and theory value of this research.The second part: First through the definition of music appreciation and teaching content to define the core of the college music appreciation. Second to sum up some development on the college music appreciation .The third part: First to expatiate content and the design of the survey questionnaire, the process and the method of the investigation as well as the steps and methods of the outcome of the investigation and analysis of statistical data. At last to analyze the problems of survey results and the cause .The fourth part:According to the problems of the college music appreciation teaching content, we offered five recommendations: Stress on native culture, construct the distinctive ethic characteristics teaching content. Grasp the practice,construct integration both within and outside of class the teaching content.Strengthen subject consciousness, build students to drvelop of the teaching content. Keep up with the pace of development, constrect the rich flavor of the time teaching content. Improve the level of recognizing, integrate of the curriculum of information technology and music appreciation courses.On the basis of the five vision, starts the exploration of initial construction of the college music appreciation teaching contents.
